Our 100% Apple Juice

We have a very old orchard with a wide variety of apple trees, some of whose names have been lost in the mists of time. When our orchard was planted the names of Devon apples often varied even from farm to farm, including the wonderfully named Slack-ma-Girdle and Poor Man's Profit. There is also a variety called Pig's Snout which is very apt given our Gloucester Old Spot pigs, a traditional orchard pig if ever there was one.

We press apples from the orchard throughout the autumn and early winter, using nothing but apples. The result is a lovely tasting, golden-hued juice that contains nothing but apples! No additives or preservatives. We don't use any pesticides or chemicals on the trees and the orchard grass is fertilized naturally by some of our sheep in the spring. The black and white photograph below, courtesy of the famous Devon photographer James Ravilious, shows that picking apples hasn't changed much over the last 50 years.

We bottle the juice into 1 litre glass bottles and pasteurize it on the farm. A single litre costs £2.50 and we offer a case of 12 litres at a 10% discounted price of £27.
